Workshop: Dyssynchrony in heart failure

Focus Area Leader: John Aalen, Institute for Surgical Research, Center for Cardiological Innovation, and Department of Cardiology, Oslo University Hospital, Rikshopsitalet
Co-organizer: Professor Otto Smiseth

Date: October 11, 2018
Place: seminar room A3.3067, Rikshospitalet, Oslo

The workshop will look at dyssynchrony induced by left bundle branch block or right ventricular pacing and the consequences for the failing heart. Increased knowledge of the relationship between electrical and mechanical dyssynchrony and how it affects the heart during different conditions (ischemia, load etc.) is likely to be of importance for patient management. In particular, the focus will be on the use of various methods to select patients and evaluate response to cardiac resynchronization therapy.

Invited speakers include Professor Theodore P. Abraham, MD, PhD from University of California, San Francisco, and Associate professor Katsuji Inoue, MD, PhD, Ehime University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan.

The Focus Areas are dedicated to specific topics of interest to several groups in the Center for Heart Failure Research. The aim of each focus area is to facilitate exchange of ideas, common projects and collaboration with international partners.
