The scientific strategy of the group is focused on excitation contraction coupling:
- What is the true nature of the coupling between excitation and intracellular Ca2+ release in normal and failing cardiomyocytes?
- How is this coupling modified in normal and diseased hearts?
- Is normal fatigue in skeletal muscle due to reduced “gain” of the excitation contraction coupling, and why is this fatigue mechanism affected in heart failure?
