Main concept
Systematic self-initiated clinical research in cardiology along with patient “loops” in OUH, Ullevål in close cooperation with relevant milieus in Helse Sør-Øst.
• The projects are related to acute myocardial infarction and chronic heart disease, including diabetes, heart failure and atrial fibrillation.
• In addition to the clinical problems/questions raised, studies on mechanisms/translational studies ex-vivo are focused, particularly related to pathogenetic understanding of disease and effect mechanisms of interventional principles.
• Mainly randomized interventional trials are conducted, but also cross-sectional studies and studies related to systematic biobanking associated with patient registries.

Biobanking, including collection, sample processing, freezing/storage using standarized criteria is central and is an important part of the activity.
