PhD School of Heart Research was established in July 2004 and is supported by the central administration at the University of Oslo.
The main purpose of the school is to offer an educational program at a high international level in the field of heart research. This educational program serves as a supplement and an extension of the existing PhD program at the University of Oslo.
The PhD School of Heart Research is administrated by the steering group of the Center for Heart Failure Research and Professor Geir Christensen is coordinator.
Ph.D. students that have been admitted to one of the University's PhD programs and are registered as members of Center for Heart Failure Research are students of the school. PhD students that are not members of Center for Heart Failure Research, but work with heart related topics, can apply for admission to the school.
The students will automatically receive information regarding the school and will be offered courses, “hand-on” training sessions, seminars, lectures and other meetings arranged by the PhD School of Heart Research and Center for Heart Failure Research. The administration of the school will make efforts to plan an educational program with meetings where the students are awarded credits (study points). Moreover, it will be important for the administration to create an environment where the students can interact with each other and with more senior scientist, as well as with invited outstanding researchers from abroad to foster international interaction.
